Funny is Good

This Fall my dad was in the hospital for a stomach blockage.  He became very "confused". That  is the polite expression. I called it "crazy."  It was scary. What created it is not known. Nurses did say it is not uncommon in older patients who are in the hospital.  There is also the thought that maybe some medication aided it.  It took dad quite sometime to return to himself.  At Christmas he got the flu and it knocked him down for several weeks.  It has been just recently that he has seemed to recover his humor.  So when the doctor said he needed knee replacement I was nervous.  After the last hospital stay and the "crazy" that came with it I wondered how another hospital stay as well as anesthesia going to effect dad.  So all day today as mom and I sat at the hospital waiting for him to come out of surgery I was a bit anxious.  What a relief to get to Dad's room and find funny, not crazy. I know Dad has a long road ahead with recovery but I am hopeful this evening.  The next couple of days will determine if he goes home to recover or begins the process at rehab.  Praying that God will provide that which is best for both Dad and Mom.
