Tour de Hospital

Well Mom is back on tour.  She and dad are checking out another room at our local hospital. They are not staying in one of the grander rooms however the hope is that this stay will be a short one.

Dad went home from the the rehab a week ago Tuesday.  He seemed to be doing well. Although he would not admit it, I think he was kind of missing the activity of the Rehab. Physically he is making good progress and confusion has been limited.  Sunday he started to not feel so great and began experiencing stomach issues.  By Wednesday morning he was so dizzy that he could not get out of bed. Mom called his doctor who told her to call 911 and have them take Dad to the ER.  So yesterday Mom and Dad did a 12 hour "day trip" at the ER before he was taken to a room last night.  They have been invited to spend another night to make sure Dad continues to improve before going home.  The best guess is that he had some stomach virus that resulted in a depletion of Potassium and Magnesium.  As those needed nutrients, IV liquids and antibiotics have been pumped in, Dad seems to be gaining. He has not shown the signs of confusion that he has experienced with other hospital stays. For this, we are very grateful.

This was an unexpected excursion yet not without some perks.  I am on Spring Break so have been available to pop in for visits.  Mom got to visit a neighbor who was recently injured and meet her friend Barbara's new grand baby who was born Tuesday. She also got to see a worker who was especially kind to her during Larry's last stay.

Hopefully the next stop on the itinerary is home Tomorrow with no returns to the hospital in the near future.
