Some Days

I feel like a Tulip just too tired to stand!  Happy Monday!

Tulips

While trekking 80 miles for the Resurrection Run during Lent, I passed by a patch of tulips on a regular basis.  I was compelled to take pictures as I watched the tulips progress in various stages.  I kept pondering the significance or the message  in what I saw.  I don't think I came up with anything super profound.  Perhaps just a reminder that like Tulips this life is cyclical.  Emotion, feelings and experiences shift and change.  But like the tulip there is always the hope of Spring with new beginnings as part of the ongoing cycle.  And for followers of Jesus there is always the anticipation and expectation of the day when the cycle ends and we live in the never ending pinnacle of beauty and delight with Jesus.

the catch up list

So it has been many - like close to 50 days since I last wrote on the blog. Why you ask.  I don't really know.  Sometimes I just don't have the energy, time or anything real valuable to say.  Yes I know I write even when its not valuable but that's not the point.  I have written things in my head and stuff has been going on but I didn't feel compelled to put anything in print and blast it into cyberspace.

Since it has been sooo long I am going to list a bunch of one liners in an effort to catch up. It may be a combination of events, thoughts and pictures.  But I am challenging myself to no long stories.  Now we KNOW that is hard!  It will be good for my brain (and you) if I can just create "small bites".  So here we go.

1) My bible study group broke up with me in January due to busy schedules and it hurt my feelings a little bit but I am continuing to do homiletics on gospel of John alone and that is good.  (how's that for ONE sentence!)

2)I have had a few clients in my little Child Life Coaching business and I've enjoyed meeting with the kids, being a part of the supportive Andrea Cook and Associates team, and might be breaking even over expenses, maybe.

3) Peter has been working at Papa Johns for over 2 months now and has a consistent 6 day a week schedule.

4) Peter currently is not driving due to insurance cost so I (along with Mama Millie and the occasional Lyft) function as his means for transportation.

5) Peter is faithful to his job, taking his meds, and paying off his debts for which I am grateful.

6) Peter is surviving but not thriving and I wish so much for for him.

7) My efforts to get Peter connected with a local outpatient Behavioral Health resource hit a boarded up window and bricked up door and therefor is currently not an option.

8) Mama Millie had 3 specific episodes of AFib between Christmas and St Patrick's Day that resulted in her having an ablation to the heart and a new leadless (teeny tiny) pace maker put in March 23rd.

9) Mama Millie had a fall in February that cause some issues to her legs and made her walking more cautious and intentional.

10) We buried Mama Millie's friend Miss Betty in February in a very small but proper funeral complete with body viewing,  escorted processional down one of the towns main roads, and a sweet graveside service.

11) Mom and I made a Easter House

12) Keeping in tradition, Easter involved a work project.  I installed a fence in mom's back garden.

13) I walked 81 miles during Lent (average 2 miles a day) as part of the 80 mile virtual  Resurrection Run and earned myself a really cool shirt.

14) I taught my preschoolers to follow me in the hallways echoing me as I call out a couple of military chants and its pretty darn cute.

15) I am so grateful for my class of preschoolers as they make me laugh and teach me so very much.

16) I received a really cool vegetarian cookbook from my dear friend Dora for my birthday and have tried quite a few recipes and am turning into a Flexitarian.

17) After YEARS of anti-flossing my dentist told me neglecting to floss would just cost me more money in dental care and I have actually flossed daily for almost 40 days!!!

18) Peter really isn't doing well as he appears to be in a state of depression the majority of the time.

19) Peter has a telephone doctor appointment Monday that I plan to butt in on and express my concerns once again seeking help for him.

20) Since she started feeling better, Mom with a little help from me is making great progress on her little backyard flower garden spot and we are anxious to finish it along with sprucing up her patio.

21) My April challenge has been getting up at 5:30 each morning which is a great challenge that I have been successful at for 10 days now.

22) I love decorating my porch for the seasons and am working on the after Easter spring version which is still in progress.

23) This was my Easter porch

24) A few weeks ago I was able to spend an hour with 2 of the women who raised me in my post college years and we even managed a selfie!

25) I am still buying and wearing Color Street thanks to friends who hook me up with sales  !!!

26) Encouraged by a co-work and with the help of Amazon, I embarked on Succulent Farming!

27) I still want one of these!

28) I moved some of the back yard fairy garden to the wheel barrow in the front yard so I can see and enjoy it.

29) I am attempting some herb gardening - from seeds.

30) This month I have three anticipated visits with friends who live far away and I am grateful as well as excited.

Thirty pieces of trivia seem enough for today and pretty much sum things up in my world!
